With every major patent blog reporting on the recent Federal Circuit decision (favorable to patent owners) to reverse a district court judgement that the claims were ineligible under 35 USC 101, there is not much left to write about. So, we decided to try to capture the take-away lesson from the decision in a single sentence: For claims directed to computer technology, draft a specification that describes a specific “technological improvement” achieved by the claimed invention.
