On September 14, 2018 Oblon professionals partnered with AIPPI - JAPAN (The international Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property of Japan) to present an AIPPI ITC Seminar. The seminar was held at the Kanazawa Institute of Technology Tokyo Toranomon Campus.
The seminar included a mock ITC (U.S. International Trade Commission) evidentiary hearing or trial where Oblon's professionals Yuki Onoe, Yorikatsu Hohokabe, Ph.D., CLP, and Stephen G. Baxter, Ph.D., each played separate roles in order to demonstrate to the audience how these increasingly popular Section 337 patent infringement investigations typically proceed.
Yuki Onoe, Resident Partner of Oblon's Tokyo office said, "Attendees were obviously engaged in the event", and credited a step-by-step translation from English to Japanese, in part, for the event's success. Yorikatsu Hohokabe, Senior Advisor in Oblon's Tokyo office added, "Attendees included representatives from major Japanese companies, Japan Patent Office examiners as well as several patent/law firms."
