Nicholas Rosa, Ph.D. is a patent agent in the firm’s Chemical Patent Prosecution group, focusing on patent preparation and prosecution for domestic and international clients. His expertise covers a wide array of technical areas including nanomaterials, semiconductor devices, magnetic materials, rare-earth and radioactive element chemistry, optically active materials, organic and organometallic synthesis, analytical chemistry, pharmaceuticals and therapeutics, materials characterization, automated data collection and processing, machine learning/artificial intelligence (AI), medical devices, and medical diagnostic hardware and software.
Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Rosa worked as a Department of Energy ORISE fellow at the US Food and Drug Administration in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health where he worked on topics including developed testing and validation methods for new cancer detection and treatment technologies, diagnostics from biometric devices, and strategies for automated healthcare validation. During his graduate studies, he synthesized and investigated magnetic semiconducting materials for applications ranging from computing and consumer electronics to biomedical imaging and diagnostics. Before beginning his doctoral work, he developed new antimalarial pharmaceutical candidates.
Dr. Rosa has developed a passion and skill for clearly and concisely translating complex topics to accessible language by teaching. He has published original research in top-tier scientific journals and has been invited to speak at conferences across the globe. He has instructed college chemistry lectures and laboratory courses for over fifteen semesters, individually mentored over ten graduates and undergraduate researchers, and ran outreach lectures and demos in elementary and middle schools across the Washington DC area.
He draws from this diverse background to ensure that each client receives a top quality service and experience from the inventions they entrust to the firm.
