Robert Tarcu is a partner in the Electrical Patent Prosecution practice group. Using his technical knowledge and legal expertise, Mr. Tarcu provides counseling on a wide range of matters including patentability, portfolio management, and patent prosecution strategies. Having worked as a Patent Examiner for the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), he understands both sides of the patent prosecution spectrum and is experienced in effective examiner interviewing strategies, prosecution procedures, and USPTO practices.
Mr. Tarcu is well-versed in a wide array of technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), image processing, speech recognition, telecommunications, networking, 3-D imaging, optical systems, liquid crystal displays, organic light-emitting diode based displays, semiconductor design, medical devices, smart devices and wearables, internet of (medical) things (IoT/IoMT), audio and video processing, and consumer electronics to name a few. He also has experience in the digital health, therapeutics and wellness space, which is a growing field that harnesses the combined power of computing platforms, software, traditional therapeutics and devices to enable the monitoring and improvement of lives and health. Mr. Tarcu is also highly skilled in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in a post-Alice environment in the computer software space, with further emphasis on mobile applications and graphical user interfaces (GUIs).
